About The Feather Inn
The Feather Inn was built in 1937 and remained in the Knapp family for 70 years until purchased and restored in 2007.  Originally, the homestead stood on the third largest citrus operation in the Rio Grande Valley, totaling over 1000 acres.  Now the home rests peacefully on 2.5 acres of mature native trees and luscious landscape among some of the city's newest homes.  Nearby, some of the remaining citrus orchards lend a heady fragrance to winter evenings.

Designed by architect Newell Waters, the Feather Inn was a stand-out in its time, built to the demanding specifications of Everett Knapp and his wife Bess.  Interior design was completed by a Beverly Hills firm brought to Weslaco for the job.  Redwood came from California for the home's exterior, poured concrete walls were constructed, and interior woodwork was painstakingly handcrafted.  Upon completion, the home was featured in Architectural Digest Magazine in 1940.

Today the history remains in this lovingly restored home with its exquisite original tile work and hardwood floors.  The raw beam ceilings and one of a kind light fixtures lend ambiance to this South Texas treasure.
